IL Receptor
Interleukin receptors are a family of cytokine receptors for interleukins. They belong to the immunoglobulin superfamily.There are many kinds of IL-receptors such as interleukin-1 receptor, interleukin-6 receptor, interleukin-10 receptor, interleukin-12 receptor and others. Interleukins are synthesized by helper CD4+ T lymphocytes, as well as through monocytes, macrophages, and endothelial cells. The function of the immune system depends in a large part on interleukins and interleukin receptors. They modulate inflammation and immunity by regulating growth, mobility and differentiation of lymphoid and other cells. It has been reported that some interleukin receptors (ILRs) are highly expressed in many tumorous cells because they can contribute to malignant progression and apoptosis resistance of various cancer types including glioma (Kioi et al., 2008). Among these ILRs, interleukin-13 receptor (IL-13R) has already been used as a targeting site for mediating nano-enabled delivery systems to glioma.
