Xanthotoxol at concentrations of 5 to 5 micrograms/ml inhibits the growth of cells, decreases amount of cell protein, mitotic index. Xanthotoxol has neuroprotection, due to the ability of xanthotoxol to attenuate the expression of pro-inflammatory mediators and thereby inhibit the inflammatory response after cerebral ischemia.
