A potent and selective SGLT2 inhibitor with IC50 of 2 nM; shows little activity for SGLT1 (IC50=5.6 uM); produces a saturable urinary glucose excretion in normal rats and dogs with ED50 of 0.38 and 0.09mg/kg, respectively; reduced HbA(1c) and blood glucose concentration without affecting body mass or insulin level in db/db mice.Diabetes Phase 3 Clinical.
