Brief DescriptionMethacholine chloride is a quaternary ammonium parasympathomimetic agent with the muscarinic actions of acetylcholine.
-
DescriptionMethacholine chloride is a quaternary ammonium parasympathomimetic agent with the muscarinic actions of acetylcholine. It is hydrolyzed by ACETYLCHOLINESTERASE at a considerably slower rate than ACETYLCHOLINE and is more resistant to hydrolysis by nonspecific CHOLINESTERASES so that its actions are more prolonged. It is used as a parasympathomimetic bronchoconstrictor agent and as a diagnostic aid for bronchial asthma. (In Vivo):Methacholine choride (0.5 μg/kg plus 5 μg/kg/min for 30 min) induces bronchoconstriction in dogs.Methacholine choride (0.5 mg/kg; i.v.) induces bronchoconstriction was inhibited by bradykinin (4-40 μg/kg; i.v.) in a a dose-dependent manner in mouse.

Reference
-
α-Bungarotoxin
Neurotoxin that blocks neuromuscular transmission via irreversible inhibition of nicotinic ACh receptors (nAChRs). Prevents opening of nicotinic receptor-associated ion channels and is selective for α7 receptors over α3β4 receptors (IC50 values are 1.6 nM and > 3 μM respectively).
-
Hodostin
Neostigmine methyl sulfate is a cholinesterase inhibitor used in the treatment of myasthenia gravis and to reverse the effects of muscle relaxants such as gallamine and tubocurarine. Neostigmine, unlike PHYSOSTIGMINE, does not cross the blood-brain barrier.
-
Proxyphylline
Proxyphylline is a dual of adenosine A1/A2a receptor inhibitor and phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitor. Proxyphylline acts as a cardiac stimulant vasodilator and bronchodilator.
