    A potent, specific, cell permeant inhibitor of mTOR with IC50 of 10 nM for both mTORC1 and mTORC2; displays no activity against 76 other protein kinases or seven lipid kinases, including class 1 PI3Ks (>1,000-fold); suppresses activation and hydrophobic motif phosphorylation of Akt, S6K and SGK, but not RSK, also inhibits phosphorylation of the T-loop Thr308 of Akt, induces complete dephosphorylation of 4E-BP1 in HEK-293 cells; suppresses cell growth and induces G1-cell cycle arrest in both wild-type and mLST8 deficient MEFs.
