Brief Description(-)-Epicatechin is an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), inhibiting the IL-1β-induced expression of iNOS by blocking the nuclear localization of the p65 subunit of NF-κB.
-
DescriptionEpicatechin is a flavan-3-ol, a type of natural phenol and antioxidant. It is a plant secondary metabolite. The name of the catechin chemical family derives from catechu, which is the tannic juice or boiled extract of Mimosa catechu (Acacia catechu L.f). l-Epicatechin can be found in cacao beans and was first called kakaool or cacao-ol. Maximilian Nierenstein was among those who proved the presence of catechin in cocoa beans in 1931.

PAF (C16)
PAF (C16) is a potent MAPK and MEK/ERK activator that induces increased vascular permeability. PAF (C16) (PAF (C16)) is a platelet-activating factor, a phospholipid-derived mediator and a ligand for PAF G protein-coupled receptor (PAFR). PAF (C16) has shown anti-apoptotic and anti-inflammatory activity in vitro, inhibiting Caspase-dependent apoptosis by interacting with its receptor (PAF-R) to perform cell signaling.
