-
DescriptionDHODH-IN-8 has antimalarial activity. DHODH-IN-8 is an inhibitor of human and Plasmodium falciparum dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) with IC50 of 0.13 μM and 47.4 μM, and Kis of 0.016 μM and 5.6 μM, respectively.(In Vitro):Dihydroorotic acid dehydrogenase (DHODH) is an attractive chemotherapeutic target among various pathogens, such as Plasmodium falciparum and Helicobacter pylori, and is used to treat human diseases. DHODH catalyzes the conversion of dihydroorotate (DHO) to orotate by using the FMN cofactor in the only redox reaction present in the pyrimidine biosynthesis pathway. Human DHODH (HsDHODH)a and Plasmodium falciparum DHODH (PfDHODH) are both DHODHs using respiratory quinones as terminal electron acceptors.
