It is converted from Riboflavin then it is converted to N1-(5-Phospho-alpha-D-ribosyl)-56-dimethylbenzimidazole via the enzyme nicotinate-nucleotide--dimethylbenzimidazole phosphoribosyltransferase (EC 2.4.2.21).
